February 14, 2026—Valentine’s Day evening. After enjoying a full day of skiing at Togari Onsen Ski Resort, our group of five headed to the much-talked-about new restaurant for the 2024-2025 season: “Yakiniku Dragon produced by Jumbo”.
It was hard to believe that a restaurant fully produced by Tokyo’s reservation-only legend “Yakiniku Jumbo” would open right on the slopes of a ski resort. Upon visiting, we were absolutely stunned by the quality, which completely overturned the typical concept of ski resort dining.

Located right on the slopes of Togari Onsen Ski Resort

Fully Supervised by Tokyo’s Legendary “Yakiniku Jumbo”
The most significant feature of this restaurant is undoubtedly its supervision by “Yakiniku Jumbo”. With four locations in Tokyo (Shinozaki Main Store, Hongo, Hanare, and Shirokane) that have impressed gourmets worldwide, they have perfectly recreated their legendary flavors here at a ski resort in Nagano Prefecture.
Under the direction of Representative Nanbara Norimitsu, the dinner menu features Jumbo’s signature dishes like “Nohara-yaki” and “Wagyu Sushi.” During lunch, guests can enjoy community-collaborative menus featuring Iiyama City’s Shinshu Premium Wagyu beef, local vegetables, and Iiyama rice.

Modern Interior with Panoramic Slope Views
Stepping inside, you find a modern and sophisticated space that is miles apart from a typical ski cafeteria.

Walls decorated with colorful art pieces
The ceiling features a distinctive wooden chandelier, and the walls are adorned with pop art. Large windows offer a panoramic view of the slopes—a silver world by day, and a view of night skiing lights or snow grooming operations by night.

Menu Orders and Tasting Review
Our group of five ordered a variety of dishes that caught our eye. The conclusion? “Everything was so delicious, we couldn’t decide on a favorite.”
Kimchi Assortment (¥1,170)
We started with the classic Yakiniku staple, Kimchi Assortment. The balance of acidity and spice was exquisite, raising our expectations for the meat to come.

Salted Tongue – 2 Servings (¥2,650 x 2)
Beautifully plated salted tongue. It had just the right thickness, and when grilled, juicy meat juices overflowed. We enjoyed it simply with a squeeze of lemon.

Yukhoe-style Sliced Roast Beef (¥1,630)
Roast beef eaten mixed with rich egg yolk. The umami of the meat came through directly, with a texture that seemed to melt in the mouth.

Egg Soup (¥450)
A gentle-tasting egg soup that warmed our cold bodies perfectly.

Harami (¥2,550) & Karubi (¥1,400)
The Harami (skirt steak) had a deep meat flavor that expanded with every chew. The Karubi (short rib) had an elegant sweetness from the fat, a taste that pairs perfectly with rice.

Miyuki Pork Karubi – 2 Servings (¥990 x 2)
Karubi from Iiyama City’s brand pork, “Miyuki Pork.” The fat was sweet, and there was absolutely no gamey odor typical of pork. Enjoying local ingredients is another delightful point.

Signature Dish! Nohara-yaki – 2 Pieces (¥2,170 x 2)
And finally, Yakiniku Jumbo’s signature dish “Nohara-yaki”! Thinly sliced large sirloin is quickly seared right in front of you by the staff.

Beautifully marbled sirloin with special egg sauce
The grilling time is only a few seconds. Also known as “3-Second Roast,” this meat is dipped into a special beaten raw egg before eating.

Staff grills it to perfection right at the table
The moment I put it in my mouth, the meat melted. The sweet and savory sauce, the richness of the egg, and the high-quality fat sweetness united to create truly the “Ultimate Sukiyaki-style Yakiniku.” This is a must-eat.

Special Cold Noodles (¥1,630)
We finished with the Special Cold Noodles. The firm noodles and refreshing soup refreshed our palates perfectly after the yakiniku.

Shinshu Premium Wagyu Beef Bowl (¥1,500)

A luxurious beef bowl using Shinshu Premium Wagyu. The meat was tender, and the sauce soaked into the rice was simply the best.
Special Dinner Time Watching Snow Grooming
During our meal, we could see the scenery of the slopes being groomed for the next day’s operations right outside the window.

The orderly tracks of the PistenBully (snow groomer) being carved into the silent night slopes. Being able to eat authentic Yakiniku while watching this scenery is a luxurious experience unique to a slope-side restaurant.
